Home to the Burleigh Barrel you will find some of the best surfing in Australia on these shore. Located on the southern end of the Gold Coast this area exudes a more laid back vibe which makes it a favourite with families as well as surfers. Read a book on the sandy beaches, take your board out for a paddle, relax at one of the cafes or grab an ice cream for instant refreshment. There's lots of shady parkland by the beach which makes it perfect for an afternoon BBQ. Later on move to one of the taverns for a beer and a game of pool. It's not all about surfing in this area as you will find lots of little art galleries, kitsch home wares stores and clothing boutiques.

The area by the beach is mostly old 1950s houses, 1970s style three storey walk ups  with the odd new luxury residential and holiday tower popping up.
